2017 has so far been a great year for makeup! From amazing lipsticks and highlighters to gorgeous eye products, there has been an endless line of new things to try and I have spent a small fortune keeping up! I’ve particularly loved collecting new eyeshadow palettes of which there have been many! As a part time makeup artist eye makeup is one of my favourite areas to develop and improve so having a vast collection of eye makeup is high priority!

One of the most anticipated eye palette releases this year was the Juvia’s Place Magic Palette! I already have the Nubian Palette 2 which I fell in love with immediately so when I found about this palette I knew it would be a winner and one I had to have in my repertoire! If you have never heard of Juvia’s Place, it is a cosmetics brand which was created in 2014 by Chichi Eburu, a Nigerian born wife and mother of two. She wanted to create a brand that was truly representative of her culture and took her inspiration from Queen Nefertiti, whose image is used on all the packaging. Juvia’s Place was initially known for great makeup brushes but now the name is synonymous with amazingly colourful and highly pigmented eye shadows! The brand is against animal testing and almost everything created is vegan.

The Magic Palette was inspired by the moon and sun goddesses and has been designed to allow your makeup to transition from day to night. It contains 16 different coloured eyeshadows:

And this is a close up of each shade with its name. There are 6 matte shades – Zakiya, Kesi, Nana, Kogi, Lfe and Yejide – and 10 shimmer shades – Nubia, Osun, Zuba, Boronu, Faso, Aja, Vai, Yemoja, Yara and Buzo:

Photographs don’t do this palette justice! I’m hoping you can still tell that the colours are intense and the colour pay off is amazing but to convince you even more I have swatched all the shades too:

Juvia’s Place Magic Palette: These eyeshadows are some of the most pigmented and buttery shadows I have ever used! After only one swipe the swatch for every colour was bold and the texture smooth and creamy. As well as being super pigmented, the shadows are easy to blend and can be layered without losing the colour intensity. This palette has a gorgeous collection of colours that will suit all skin tones and allow you to create endless makeup looks all year long. The mixture of matte and shimmer shades is also well balanced and should keep both camps happy.

The real test with makeup, of course, is how it looks when applied! To show you how lovely this palette is when put to use, here are 2 looks I have created using the shades:

To show you how lovely this palette is when put to use, here are 2 looks I have created using the shades. The first look used Zakiya, Kogi, Zuba and Osun. I also applied a little of Nubia and used Kesi as my base shade. You can see the colours are vibrant and whilst they have blended together a treat, you can still dscern each colour! The second look used Nubia, Buzo and Koji, along with a lighter green from a different palette. Again, all the colours work really well together and with eyeshadows from a different brand too. I can’t wait to invent more looks in the future!

All in all, Juvia’s Place have created a truly beautiful palette and it’s worth every penny! There are also other stunning eyeshadow and blusher palettes on the website, some of which are on sale so I highly recommend taking a look! Since purchasing this palette I have already bought another one called Zulu – you can check it out along with the rest of the collection here.

Thanks for reading and if you have bought this palette or any of the Juvia’s Place products let me know your thoughts in the comments!
