If you’re as obsessed with makeup as I am, you are bound to have heard of Tarte Cosmetics! In all honesty, I had not heard about the brand until the last couple of years but once I did I realised how amazing the makeup was and why it is such a popular brand!
Background
Tarte was founded by Maureen Kelly from her bedroom in 1999! She created the brand out of a frustration with the beauty industry and the number of brands that still used chemicals, parabens and other unhealthy ingredients. She also wanted her makeup to be visually pleasing but felt there was nothing that ticked this box either. And so, Tarte was born!
Today tarte is a leader in healthy, eco-friendly beauty, offering cruelty-free cosmetics containing super fruit and plant extracts, vitamins, minerals, essential oils and other naturally-derived ingredients. All the products are formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan, synthetic fragrances and gluten, just to name a few. To make the brand even more discerning, it has super long staying power and covers budge proof, waterproof, sweatproof and SPF formulas. Not only that, but the packaging is designed to be beautiful and environmentally friendly! The brand supports cooperatives in the Rainforest and develops sustainable components that can often be re-used to help reduce environmental waste. Equally important is that the brand is cruelty free and offers Vegan products.
My Tarte Haul
Since discovering the Tarte brand, I have bought many different products. Tarte covers everything from eye palettes to face palettes to blushers and lipsticks! I have tried a bit of everything and my most recent haul comprised the following:
- The limited edition Make Believe in Yourself eye & cheek palette
- The limited edition Rainforest of the Sea™ eyeshadow palette vol. II
- The limited edition Tarteist™ PRO glitter liner in rose gold
- The limited edition Tarteist™ PRO glitter liner in silver
- The limited edition Spellbound Sprinkle face and body glitter
- The Amazonian Clay eyeshadow palette
All of these items are excellent quality! My review of each is below:
1. The Eye And Cheek Palette
This is a gorgeous multicoloured mix of eyeshadows and a highlighting shade. It is inspired by Unicorns, a massive makeup theme at the moment! The eye shadows are made up of one matte shade, and a variety of pearl, metallic and iridescent shades. All the colours are very buttery and pigmented and blend together easily. It’s the ideal palette for Spring and Summer!
2. The Eyeshadow Palette Volume II
Can you tell I love eye makeup? I can never have enough eye shadow palettes and I loved this one because of the deep cool tones! All 8 shadows are limited edition in a creamy crease free formula and they glide onto the eye like butter! Fall out is minimal and the colours blend seamlessly. This is the perfect palette for creating a smoky eye, whether it be a natural one or an intense night time version!
3-4. The Pro Glitter Liners In Rose Gold And Silver
These liners are lovely! They are 2-in-1 metallic liquid eyeliners with a glitter topcoat and they can be used together or individually. The pigmentation of the metallic liners is second to none and once applied they don’t budge. The glitter liners are also good but subtler and need to be built up to gain the full glitter effect. They will no doubt come in handy in the coming months leading to Christmas!
5. The Face And Body Glitter
This glitter is so pretty! It is not a conventional body glitter and is actually more a body shimmer powder. It’s a pale gold colour and when applied leaves a glow rather than a full highlight or strobe effect and provides decent staying power. It catches the light beautifully and can be used alone or mixed with body cream or oil. It can also be mixed with a facial illuminator or even foundation as the powder is very finely milled. All in all, it’s a versatile product and can be used all year round!
6. The Amazonian Palette
The final eye shadow palette I bought is now one of my staples! It’s a gorgeous collection of 16 nudes, browns, creams and mauves in mattes and shimmers, perfect for everyday use. Every shadow has beautiful pigmentation and blendability and the colours will suit everyone. If you’re a natural or neutral look lover then this palette is made for you! I also received a free mini Tarte mascara, Lights Camera, Lashes with the palette and this mascara is ideal for coating and separating the bottom lashes!
Final Thoughts
Tarte is by far one of the best makeup brands I have used in recent times and the quality of the products is excellent. These are only some of the recent items I have purchased – I have also tried the Maracuja oil, the standard eyeliner and some of the brushes, everything is beautifully packaged and easy to use. The fact that the brand is also chemical free, cruelty free and environmentally friendly is the icing on the cake! If you have not tried Tarte Cosmetics as yet, check out the website here – there’s a sale on as well so what better time to buy a few items and test them out?
